Hopscotch
Hopscotch is the most classic game on the playground! This game teaches and requires body control, balance, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and stamina if you want to be successful. This is a great game that can be played with multiple players or can be played alone. This is a fantastic game for all, especially for young children!
Hopscotch
Rules
- The first player tosses the marker (stone, woodchip, beanbag) onto square number 1. The marker must fully be in the square, not
touching any of the lines.
- The player then hops through the course, being sure to skip the square with the marker on it.
- Squares that are singular, or with no other square on either side of it, must be hopped on with only 1 foot.
- Squares that are paired, or squares that have another square to either side of it , will be straddles with the left foot going into the
square on the left, and the right foot going into the square on the right.
- The player will go to the end of the course, turn around, and then mirror the original course but only backwards. On their way back
to the beginning of the course, they will pick up their marker and finish the course.
- Once a player has completed the course with the marker in square 1, when it is their turn again they must now toss the square into
square 2. This pattern of tossing will continue all the way until the last square.
- If the marker does not land in the appropriate square, the player loses their turn and must try to get it into the same square the next
time.
- If there is more than 1 person, after the 1st player completes their first round the 2nd player will take their turn. When it gets back to
the 1st player, they will then throw their marker onto the next number square.
- If at anytime a player commits one of the following infractions, they lose their turn and need to restart the round. If there is more than
1 person playing, they must get back in line:
- If a player touches a line
- If a player loses their balance and has to put their feet on the ground outside of the lines
- If they do not put the correct amount of feet into a square
- If a player jumps into a square with their marker in it
- If a player forgets to pick up their marker on their way back to the beginning
- A player wins the game once all squares have had the marker in it, and all rounds have been completed successfully by a player,
touching any of the lines.
